Welcome to my review of Jim Rickards Crash Speculator.
There are many ways you can make money during a bear market (or from bearish stocks).
Now Jim claims to have found one that can capitalize on downturns in the best way possible.
He says that if you apply his proprietary strategy found in his Crash Speculator program to a falling stock, a $500 investment can morph into up to $10,000 in one day. But is that any true?
In this review, I take you through the investment strategy, evaluate its strengths and weaknesses, and give my verdict on whether it is legit.

What is Jim Rickards Crash Speculator?
Jim Rickards Crash Speculator is an investment research service offered by Jim Rickards. He publishes it via Paradigm Press.
Jim started the service to provide ordinary investors with advice that hedge funds typically charge a premium for. His recommendations are meant to generate massive returns in a short period.
The premise of the service is to alert you to stocks that are about to plummet (or crash, hence the name “Crash Speculator”). Jim believes that you can make money from such stocks if you time your moves.
Therefore, most of what he does is find stocks that show signs of crashing and, with the aid of economic indicators, project when that is likely to happen.

Who is Jim Rickards?
Jim Rickards is an investment banker, author, lawyer, and economist who has been active in the financial services industry for four decades. During that period, he has worked for some high profile clients – mostly government agencies and institutional investors.
He was a key negotiator when a $126 billion (in AUM) hedge fund called Long-Term Capital Management was vying for a bailout from the Federal government in 1998.
The bailout is believed to have averted a possible global financial crisis.
He also testified before Congress about the Global Financial Crisis of 2008.
He has written a couple of best-selling books, including The Death of Money, The New Case for Gold, The Road to Ruin, and Currency Wars. He published another book called Aftermath in 2019.
He has been featured in major publications like the New York Times, Evening Standard, Financial Times, and The Washington Post. He has also been a guest commentator for CNN, BBC, CNBC, Bloomberg, Fox, and other outlets.
He edits the Strategic Intelligence, Crash Speculator, and Project Prophesy for Paradigm Press (which is a publishing imprint of the Agora Financial).

How does Rickards Crash Speculator work?
As we’ve established, the service is built on the promise of helping you benefit from crashing stocks. Jim Rickards looks for the flatline pattern in a stock chart.
The pattern, which he identifies with a computer program, indicates that the stock may crash the next day.
Then, all you have to do is place a simple trade and walk away with a fortune within 24 hours.
Of course, it is not as simple as that because Jim also incorporates a series of accounting ratios that he says are never published in any corporate financial statement. The baseline figures are readily available but the way he uses them is not straightforward.
He claims that the technique is used by bankruptcy courts and banks to evaluate loan applications, but never by stock analysts. He believes he is pioneering it in the stock market.

What you get when you subscribe to Jim Rickards Crash Speculator
The annual subscription fee of the Crash Speculator is $3,995.

- New monthly recommendations of the most lucrative flatlining stock opportunities. You will typically receive two to four of these.
- Access to his proprietary Crash Monitor
- Daily flatlining stock opportunities from his watchlist.
- Urgent profit-taking alerts. These alerts will let you know when you are supposed to close your position and make away with your profits.

Merits of Rickards Crash Speculator
- If the recommendations work out, you can earn disproportionately massive profits from a modest investment.
- An investment strategy that lets you capitalize on stocks crashing can come in handy when there is a market downturn, such as the one caused by the novel coronavirus.
Demerits of Rickards Crash Speculator
- There is always a chance that you will not make money from your investments. If the stocks fail to crash, you may even lose your money.

Is Jim Rickards Crash Speculator legit?
I think the Crash Speculator is legit because its editor, Jim Rickards, has had an impressive 40-year career.
He has actively participated in some high profile economic events as I outlined before and has a solid reputation in financial circles.
To reiterate, he was a negotiator when a massive hedge fund called LCTM was being rescued by the Federal Reserve. He also testified about the Global Financial Crisis before Congress.
On top of that, he has been featured by many media outlets where he gives his opinion about the markets or some significant economic event.
To see those entities rely on Jim for his expertise leads me to believe that he can’t be a scam artist. He is legit, otherwise, they wouldn’t want to have anything to do with him.
I should make it clear that that does not mean that the Crash Speculator is nailed on to do well because that depends on how Jim performs in the future.

My Final Word on Jim Rickards Crash Speculator
I know Jim Rickards promises that you will earn a fortune in 24 hours if you follow his recommendations (I don’t agree with his marketing antics because they can be misleading).
However, if you still want to go through with it and subscribe to the Crash Speculator, you should avoid going in with that expectation, otherwise, you will be disappointed.
You will not secure your retirement or achieve financial freedom by making one trade.
Therefore, a more realistic expectation would be making a few extra dollars passively if the trades work out.
Since the coronavirus pandemic affected many stocks negatively, Jim is licking his lips at the prospect of implementing his strategy on an ever-increasing pool of distressed stocks.
Therefore, if you are going to try out the service, the recession looks like a good time to do it.
